It was raining heavily today. Shorts were still called for, but they were accompanied by a hoodie. We skipped the hotel breakfast today. Their wet eggs and sausages weren’t cutting it. We had pudding and juice from the corner shop.

We caught an Uber to ninja and samurai school. Gus was a bit shy, but I wasn’t worried about making a fool of myself (it was just the two of us). We were dressed up in cool and colourful samurai clothes. We were taught how to correctly draw our katana quickly.

We then learnt some positions to defend and attack with our katanas. There are some photos and videos, but Gus isn’t ready to share yet. I made a little movie with the instructor where we acted out a little scene with the positions we learnt. Gus was a bit shy to give it a go. We then did slicing of news paper with our katanas and then threw some ninja stars. Gus won the ninja star challenge and won his own star (rubber so it gets through customs).

We then had a "make your own noodle" experiment at the CUPNOODLE factory. We had issues getting from ninja school to the Umdea train station as everyone was on the trains because of the rain. Then we couldn’t find any food again and ended up with Maccas. Then the trains going to CUPNOODLE were packed and we physically couldn’t get on them. The last option was an Uber or taxi but that was going to be $120, again because of rain and it wasn’t going to get us there in time. We had to admit defeat. No CUPNOODLE factory for us unfortunately.

We stayed around Umeda station and looked around. There was another huge electronics and stuff shop, Yodobashi Camera. This one was inside a shopping centre taking up 8 floors. I found the stationary section with lots of weird pens and folders and the expensive watch section. They had a few Mondaine watches (only a small cabinet compared to Citizen or Seiko). They didn’t have the new ones though, so we kept going. We walked bast more expensive watch shops; OMEGA, TAG Heuer, Cartier, Rolex etc. I was going to look in the Rolex shop, but it was really long. I didn’t have the patience to wait in line to look at things they probably wouldn’t even let me try on.

We had Sizzler for a cheap dinner and headed off to rest for tomorrow’s activities.
