Today we visited the Peace Memorial Park. We walked down as our hotel was only a block or so away. I’ve noticed people are still rugging up like they’re at the snow. We’re still doing t-shirts and shorts. I don't know. Maybe we’re used to the “cold” or we’re crazy. It’s about 10:00 and the first thing we see is a massive line (worse than Universal Studios) to get into the museum and it wasn’t moving. We sat in the sun for a little bit and just looked around and had a chat while I pointed things out to Gus. The line still hadn’t moved. I really don’t like waiting in line only to be herded through places and not getting time to absorb things. I thought it was a better use of our time to walk around and look and chat. We took a few photos, but I think it’s a bit tacky to do selfies or poses with be smiling faces at places like this. I just remember some teenage girls at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. They were trying to walk along the train tracks at the unloading area to gas chambers and were taking silly selfies, striking poses, and having a wonderful time. Maybe it’s just me again.

We walk around just taking everything in. We walked around the ruin of Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall and had a look at the Aioi Bridge. After an hour or so it got a bit busy with school kids running around so we walked up to the Hiroshima Museum of Art.

The museum was nice and quiet and surrounded by a park. We walked through their little shop. We saw our first Monet, van Gogh and Picasso. I explained that just because an artist isn’t famous, or you don’t know who they are doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy their art. We both like lots of colour and Gus likes the ones where the artist used the impasto technique.

After the gallery we walked past some shops and got a Psyduck donut and one of those fizzy drinks with the glass ball as a stopper. We had a bit of an issue getting it open but we got there. It tasted a bit weird, but that’s Japan!
